Contributed by Michael Maxx Cheng

I always have the Dream of one day that i could provide Insurance for all the poor citizens of our country.Everyday in the media or newspaper,we would see some news of some poor people being 'called back by God',and i always feel very sad to know that they did not leave any money behind for their love ones.It just breaks my heart to see these innocent souls suffer to survive. In order to realize this Dream, i would need to be a multi millionaire or the help of many many good hearted, rich tycoons to chip in to help. Help Malaysians First.
Malaysian Dream : Parasite or Patriot?

The year is 2005. 48 years had passed since Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra's declaration of independence had thundered throught the crowds in Stadium Merdeka. The 48th year where a land which had been suffering under the occupation of the settlers who only had eyes on our natural resources. Years after years of suppression, finally Malaya has witness our forfathers of all ethnic groups stand together as one to build the very foundation of the Malaysia today.

Ali, Ah Chong and Muthu worked together, combining resources, all for our national interest. No one will ever forget our Father of Independence standing at the podium in the Merdeka Stadium. None will forget the shouts of Merdeka that has been the inspiration to all patriots. The very imperative of what they strive for. Their code of honour and conduct.

Enter year 2005, where racial distinction is gone in Malaysia and more than ever, we Malaysians have no shame in combining and uniting despite our different backgrounds and heritages.
We have been partners and should remain so if Malaysia want to compete on the global stage effectively. Moderation must be defended at all costs and that religious extremists have no place in Malaysia.

But after 48 long years, we are tired of listening to some selfish and shortsighted people of their worn-out blasphemies and religious arguments.

Today we celebrate our National Day, all of us, the old and the young, should remind ourselves that this country is not founded upon violence, not upon bloodshed, ut is of the convenant between all ethnics here to stand together no matter how. It was the moderation that the leaders of UMNO, MCA, and MIC understood, to achieve a common goal: independence.

The dream of Tunku Abdul Rahman, that all races to unite and mix together, working without any hidden resentments nor any backstabbing. Our former Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohammed had implemented his predessor's dreams into his Vision 2020, as a mission to be inherited by his successors.

Today Malaysia is known as a country of "First World facilities but Third World mentality". We have infrastructures that can  rival other First World countries. The Petronas Twin Towers, Cyberjaya, Putrajaya, KLIA, ... Gleaming skyscrapers standing tall and magnificent in our urban concrete jungle. But on the other hand, we have dirty toilets, cloggeg drains and litter everywhere. Drivers who use the road so inconsiderately, driving and speeding as though they have failed their driving tests. Poor orphans are deprived of basic education, without having enough school materials. Parent toil day and night, making good worth of every drop of their sweat, just to make ends meet. Babies are dumped and abandoned only to be left homeless and starving, growing up to be lost souls.

We celebrate our National Day. We recall the hardwork of our patriots. Our lifestyle, our peace and happiness, bear hallmarks of their sacrifices. We don't have to be recruited into the army to be a patriot. We don't need to be in a war zone to prove our worth; nor we need to bear arms, to shed blood to show our loyalty.

A patriot has his own country's interest at heart. He will only have Malaysia in his soul and no matter what, Malaysia comes first.

By treating the public amenities fairly, we allow others to put good use to them, to benefit of others. By driving carefully we can reduce the loss of innocent lives and restore law and order. By helping the poor, we are giving them the breath of life, and a new lease of future. This is to give them a chance for them to do something for their nation, to make a difference. By making Malaysia a better country, a better place to live in, and a homeland to be proud of; we allow others to be in love with Malaysia. If so, are we not patriots then?

Bit by bit, little by little, regardless of its significance, our efforts will bear fruit, to create the Malaysia as envision in Vision 2020. A Malaysia of Tunku's and Tun Mahathir's dreams fusioned together. A fiction turned into fact.

So it's up to us. It's a path we must choose, to be a parasite or a patriot. Both the words start will the letter "p", but both the words have different significance, for which ever "p" we choose, our decision will make an influencial impact onto our nation.
